About Karan
Karan Batta is an Indian-American actor, rapper, and screenwriter; think a South Asian American Donald Glover.
After a Best Hip-Hop Artist nomination from VH1, his work garnered attention from MTV, Rolling Stone Magazine, and even Conan O’Brien. During his time as a comedic actor on TBS’ Conan, Karan discovered his love for comedic screenwriting. But was derailed due to an ultra-rare autoimmune disorder that led him to having an organ transplant.
During his recovery he focused on screenwriting. Since then, his scripts have advanced in numerous competitions including the Austin Film Festival, Script Pipeline, and Screen Craft Comedy, amongst many others.
His self-produced shorts have placed in several film festivals including the Austin Comedy Film Festival, where Karan was nominated for Best Acting Performance.
Karan is committed to creating diverse driven and boundary pushing content that encourages “survivors” to live their best lives.
